Garden Diaries Entry #4

Writer: Alicia WinzelerAlicia Winzeler

Whew we are back at it again for gardening season! I really, REALLY am hoping to be more consistent with this blog post this summer than I have been in years past! Previously, I had a gorgeous greenhouse back in Michigan my husband built out of old windows - I gardened there for 2 years until we moved to NC - moved here & I started the garden last summer, but being in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy - your girl was HURTIN'! Now the only thing standing in my way is a baby on the move, but I plan to bring home along while I garden to get him started young! I've got some exciting things happening this year!

First...

This year I'm adding two more garden beds to my little space! My gardening area will have space for produce and cutting flowers and it is just a small strip along the side of our house. I decided rather than just leave the space bare that I'd wedge a garden in there! I'm excited to have the opportunity to grow more goodies! Plus adding some trellis' for cucumbers and beans!

Next...

I added a beautiful arbor trellis with a charming white picket fence in the entrance of the garden to add a little coastal cottage charm to the exterior! Because our home is a new build - it does lack charm & trees so really try to bring more life back!

Exciting new purchases for this growing season...

It's ironic how much we buy so we can grow some tomatoes and convince ourselves we're saving money lol. 😅 Real talk though - there's def cheaper ways to grow veggies/flowers/fruits, but I'm just a little more boujee about it than necessary! 🤪Anyways - this year I invested in an indoor greenhouse with plant lights so I could start my seeds earlier inside without delaying my growing season or fear of frost! I also got a digital soil moisture reader so I can avoid overwatering/mold, etc.

How I planned..

I finally read a book I bought awhile ago and should have already read it, but the book - 'Vegetable Gardening for Beginners'. I highly recommend! It's a very easy to read and right to the point! I wish I would have read it sooner!

These are the updates I have so far! Stay tuned for the next entry!

Thanks for reading!

XOXOXO
