Morning Routine - No Exceptions

It has taken me awhile, but I've developed a morning routine that has become almost non-negotiable. Being a Mom it's hard to find the time, but after my husband leaves for work at 6:30am I get moving on my slow morning routine. While I sip coffee in bed I turn on my heating bad for my lower back (thanks to pregnancy & labor I fear it'll never the same), start writing in my 5 minute journal, answer my 1 question a day, read my short devotional, read a passage from a year of letting go & read a little from the bible. All while having a comfort movie on - aka something I've over watched, but use as background noise. It sounds like a lot, but I swear within 30-40 minutes I've knocked it all out & I feel my soul & mindset is ready to take on the day. Of course my baby is usually sleeping when this happens. So if you're looking embark on a mourning routine you definitely have to work it based on your families schedule for the best success. For me - that's getting up a little earlier.

I'm in love with how I kick off my mornings before my son gets up & how I dedicate this time to me. I've found it has really helped me to regulate my emotions, keeps me from mindlessly scrolling & gets my brains functioning. I love this routine so much that I want to share the resources I use to kick start a good day!

//One Question A Day

This 5 year journal has you answer a daily question over the course of 5 years. I'm embarking on year two & it's already extremely interesting to the see the growth, change & mindset difference from just a year ago based on my years previous answer. It's quick & easy to do & very interesting to reflect on. Plus I feel it adds to needed critical thinking to get your brain functioning in the morning.

//Stop The Spiral Devotional

To my surprise my husband actually picked this out for me in the store & I love it! I've struggled a lot especially after pregnancy with anxiety. I do a lot to try & ease it off of myself, but some days it's never ending. This devotional spans over a 100 days & really focuses on controling your thoughts while lightly discussing the word of God. I say lightly because I for one am not a super heavily religious person. While my goal this year is to bring God more into our lives & household - I wanted to get my feet wet with material that wasn't overly saturated with religious content that it's hard to make out the message. This devotional is something I truly look forward to as a way to connect with God first thing in the morning & practice taking control of my anxious thoughts right at the crack of dawn before they run my entire day.

//5 Minute Journal

I have a regular journal, but I don't always have the time to make lengthy entries as I'd like to. This is great to set my intentions for the day & then finish my day with 5 minutes of reflection from the day. Only thing is sometimes my evening gets away from me and I forget to do the evening entry, but overall I do love this. Again, gets the brain juices flowing.

//The Year of Letting Go

This is a new one being added to my list! I'm super excited to jump into it & love that each day is pretty short so I can make it apart of my routine.

//My Bible

Not only is this bible beautiful, but it's a journaling style of a bible so I can enter my thoughts or notes on the side. As you can see ^ I have a lengthy routine, but I do my best to try and read a passage every morning out of the bible.

//My Coffee Mugs

I like my coffee HOT & once I'm cozy in my bed diving into all my reading materials - the last thing I wanna do it interrupt my flow to warm up some coffee or refill. Especially when I'm on a time clock with a sleeping baby. My Yeti mug & Stanley mug are my go to's. So much so I feel bad that I have the coffee mug collection I do because these are pretty much all I use!

//My Coffee Pot

Pretty self explanatory. She brews life & looks pretty doing it. Pricey, but I've had this beauty going on 5 years and love her! I am trying to start the mornings with a protein smoothie THEN drinking coffee, but stay tuned for that process lol!

//My Heating Pad

I have bad lower back pain from carrying my 9lb guy around pregnant & having a little heat on my lower back in the morning feels great before carrying his nearly 20lb butt around! This one is a little bigger so it covers more!

Again, I'm some in love with my morning routine that I couldn't help, but share the things that kick me off in the right direction every morning with others! Hope these things help you as much as they have helped me!

Thanks for reading!

XOXOXO

Mrs. Northern Belle
